Just the death wobble, shit'll smooth out:

I remember that wranglers used to have this same problem. It seems like it only happens at speed after an expansion joint or similar road disturbance

It's usually (if not always) a solid axle thing. More often than not, it is due to installing bigger tires, with no other modifications to the steering.

Is that a solid front axle? In my WJ it never smoothed out by doing nothing. I typically slowed down to make it go away but one day I was in the middle lane on the interstate when it started and nobody would let me over. I saw a gap ahead on the right and I nailed the throttle. As I got over in the right lane it went away. I could power out of the death wobble and I have yet to see anyone else do it.

Yes, it's a solid. This a problem that plagues only solid axles that I know of.

I've just not seen death wobble that evens itself out without a change in speed.

Most of the guys I knew that had the problem would just slow down a bit until it faded out.

I like how at no point does he put both hands on the wheel. I've seen Dodge trucks break wheel studs due to the death wobble, so the last thing I would do is drive like I'm rollin' 'round with a beer in one hand.

Dude, that's just how you drive a truck!

Not mine, the steering is a bit like a request.
Me: Please turn left a little, truck.
Truck: ...
Repeat until you almost drive into oncoming traffic.

My friend had an F150(that eventually drove itself in reverse into a building) that had about 3 inches of play.

Truck has "death wobble", better drive with one hand on top of the steering wheel.
